 Copyright is a set of rights through which writers, visual artists, filmmakers, musicians and other types of creators can control the use of their work and get paid for it.

Copyright grants the owner the exclusive right to copy, issue, rent, lend, perform, show and communicate and adapt their work.


The internet has enabled mass scale copying which has challenged the copyright law.



I have used several songs to use as audios for video edits and then posted them on youtube. I received several emails from youtube saying my video got taken down and copyright claimed.

 4 (a) Explain the difference between a conglomerate and an independent company. Use examples to support your answer. (4 marks) A conglomerate is a company or organisation that is made up of other businesses called subsidiaries. For example, Disney, as Disney owns companies such as Marvel and Pixar. An independent company however, does not have the benefits of being conglomerate and cannot use vertical integration due to it not having any subsidiaries. Independent companies will have to rely on joint ventures, meaning that the company will work with another company with mutual benefits.
