 Copyright is a set of rights through which writers, visual artists, filmmakers, musicians and other types of creators can control the use of their work and get paid for it. Copyright grants the owner the exclusive right to copy, issue, rent, lend, perform, show and communicate and adapt their work. The internet has enabled mass scale copying which has challenged the copyright law. I have used several songs to use as audios for video edits and then posted them on youtube. I received several emails from youtube saying my video got taken down and copyright claimed.

 ASA - Advertising standards authority - regulates adverts on TV, Radio and Film, BBFC - British board of film classification - regulates film age ratings and music videos Ofcom - Office of communications - regulates complaints on radio and TV programmes IPSO - Independent press standards organisation - regulates prints, magazines, newspapers, and social media news. PEGI - Pan European Germany information - Regulates game age ratings  Livingstone and Lund think the needs of a citizen (moral and ethical) are in conflict with the needs of the consumer, because protection, can limit freedom. Audiences have developed relationships with media products to the extent that they add to the meaning of the product through an immerse relationship. Fandom refers to a particular organised an motivated audience of a certain media producer franchise Forums for fandoms: Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, video games e.g. danganronpa, genshin impact, call of duty, dead by daylight Subcultures: Emo, goth, punk, alternative, hipsters End of the traditional audience The nature of the traditional 'audience' has changed because of digital tech - audiences communiate with the media.

Preferred reading - an audience generally accepts the dominant viewpoint of the story (dominant ideology - values and beliefs). We know products are mediated - careful selection to encourage audience to think a certain thing. Negotiated reading - Where the ideology of producer's message is agreed with in general, although the message is negotiated or picked apart by the audience, and they may disagree with certain aspects. Oppositional reading - Where the producer's message is understood, but the audience disagrees with the ideological perspective in every respect. - This magazine shows negative representation towards masculinity and male body image.
